Frequently asked questions

What makes a trail hard?
We flag a route hard when it runs well beyond 15 km or climbs more than about 600 m — sometimes both. Expect a full day on your feet, with sustained ascents and longer gaps between bus stops.
Do I need special equipment?
No technical gear, but treat these as full-day mountain walks: proper boots, enough food and water, a map or the offline GPX, and a head start on the daylight — especially in autumn and winter.
Are hard trails waymarked the whole way?
Yes — the Pilis is densely marked with the Hungarian colour-and-shape system. Even so, on longer routes it's worth carrying the GPX track in case a junction is ambiguous or a marker has faded.
