About Kesztölc
Kesztölc is a Slovak-Hungarian heritage village on the northern edge of the Pilis, in the Esztergom district just outside the Dorog basin. The village has around 2,700 residents and an active Slovak nationality community that runs folk-music, language and cultural programmes alongside the mainstream calendar. Most events take place at the community house and the village square, with the annual Kesztölci Búcsú pilgrimage, the heritage day in summer and Advent programmes in December as the biggest fixtures. The village sits at the foot of the Pilis ridges that climb up towards Klastrompuszta and Két-bükkfa-nyereg, which makes it a popular trailhead for walkers heading into the high Pilis. There's no direct rail link; the closest station is Dorog, with bus connections to Kesztölc. The drive from Budapest takes around an hour via the M1 motorway.
