About Pilismarót
Pilismarót sits on the Danube Bend opposite Zebegény, on the northern edge of the Pilis where the range meets the river. The village has around 2,000 residents and a year-round calendar built around riverside life: Danube-walk programmes, ferry-crossing events to Zebegény, seasonal markets and the annual Pilismaróti Napok village festival in summer. Most events run out of the community house and the riverside open-air spaces. The village is a popular cycling stop on the EuroVelo 6 route along the Danube, and the trail network behind the village climbs up into the northern Pilis. Pilismarót sits on the road between Esztergom and Visegrád, around 90 minutes from Budapest by car or by bus from Esztergom station. Summer ferry crossings to Zebegény run several times a day, which makes it an easy day trip for visitors approaching from the rail line on the northern bank.
