About Piliscsév
Piliscsév is one of the smaller villages on the northern edge of the Pilis, with around 2,400 residents and a strong Slovak nationality identity. The village still runs Slovak-language school programmes, folk dance ensembles and a yearly calendar of nationality cultural events alongside the regular community programmes. Most events take place at the community house and the village square, with the calendar built around the major holidays, the harvest festival in autumn and the village day in summer. Piliscsév sits between Esztergom and Dorog on the road out to the Danube Bend, and the surrounding limestone hills are popular with cavers and walkers. The drive from Budapest takes around an hour via the M1 motorway and Dorog, with bus connections from Dorog station for non-drivers. Visitors come for the heritage angle, the seasonal markets and the easy access into the western Pilis from a small-village base.
