About Pilisszentkereszt
Pilisszentkereszt is one of the higher villages in the Pilis, sitting at around 360 metres at the foot of Dobogókő, the highest point in the range. The village has Slovak nationality roots and runs an active programme of folk-music, language and cultural events alongside the mainstream community calendar. Most events take place at the community house and the open-air spaces around the village centre, with the annual Pilisszentkereszti Búcsú pilgrimage, the Slovak heritage festival and the summer village days as the biggest fixtures. Dobogókő itself is a national hiking landmark and the trailhead sits a short drive up from the village, which makes Pilisszentkereszt a popular weekend base for walkers heading into the high Pilis. There's no rail link; the easiest approach is by bus from Pomáz station or by car from Budapest, around 50 minutes via Pomáz and Csobánka.
