Pomáz sits between Szentendre and the Visegrád hills, on the HÉV line out from Budapest. The town has roots in Serbian, Swabian and Slovak nationality communities and the events calendar still draws from all three traditions alongside the mainstream Hungarian programme. Most of the cultural events run out of the Pomázi Művelődési Ház és Könyvtár and the Mátyás király tér square, with concerts, theatre, children's days and regular folk programmes. Annual fixtures include the Pomázi Napok village festival in early summer, the Serbian Orthodox Slava celebrations, the autumn harvest market and the Advent programme in December. Outdoor events make use of the Pilis foothills that climb up behind the town, with themed hikes, trail runs and family forest days through the spring and autumn.
