About Pilisszántó
Pilisszántó is a hilltop village on the northern slopes of the Pilis, looking out over the surrounding ridges and forests. The village has Slovak heritage and a small but active arts scene, with galleries, ceramic studios and a long-running tradition of community-organised cultural evenings. The Boldogasszony Háza pilgrimage church above the village is a regional landmark and the focus of several events through the year, alongside the village hall programmes and the annual Szántó Napok festival. Pilisszántó is one of the higher villages in the Pilis, around 350 metres of elevation, which makes it a popular base for walkers heading towards Pilis-tető and Dobogókő. The drive from Budapest takes around 45 minutes via Pilisvörösvár; there's no direct train. Most visitors come for a weekend day mixing the Boldogasszony Háza walk, a meal in the village and an evening concert or community event.
