About Budakalász
Budakalász is a riverside town on the HÉV line between Budapest and Szentendre, with the Danube on one side and the southern Pilis on the other. The town has grown to around 11,000 residents, with a mix of established locals and newer arrivals who commute into the city. Most of the cultural programme runs through the Kós Károly Művelődési Ház, the 1,600-square-metre community house that's the largest dedicated venue in the lower Pilis. The annual programme covers concerts, theatre evenings, children's days, language clubs and a long Christmas market in December. Outdoor events are anchored by the riverside promenade and the Lupa-tó lake on the southern edge of town, which hosts beach events, family days and music nights through the summer. The HÉV puts Budakalász around 25 minutes from central Budapest, which makes it a practical destination for an evening concert or weekend day out.
