49 trails

Walking with young children comes down to the right scale: short distances, gentle gradients, and enough to look at that small legs keep going. These are the Pilis routes that fit — easy, well-marked paths with picnic spots, viewpoints and springs along the way, and starts you can reach without a long drive. Frequently asked questions

Which trails are best for young children?
Look for the shortest routes — under about 5 km with very little climbing. Trails with a viewpoint, spring or ruin partway round give kids a reason to keep walking, and a natural turnaround point if energy runs low.
Can I bring a pushchair?
On wide forest tracks, often yes; on narrow marked trails, usually not. Check the distance and elevation on each trail page — a flat, sub-3 km forest road tends to be buggy-friendly, a rooty hillside path won't be.
How do we get there without a car?
Use the 'Reachable by bus' filter. Many family routes start near a Volánbusz stop or the HÉV line, so you can travel out from Budapest, walk, and be back the same afternoon.
